When I moved house this summer I thought a little about how much stuff I have but it's really coming clear to me this month. When I moved house this summer I had a lot of teacher supplies to move but there were also a lot that were stored in my classroom and hadn't even been home in over two years. As I've been preparing to change schools I've been slowing bring things home, one car load at a time. The amount of stuff is becoming a little overwhelming. I tried to warn my husband, I even told him, "I have a lot of stuff." but he didn't quite get it. That became obvious when a few days ago he said, "You don't have much left to bring home, right?" The look on his face when I didn't immediately answer in the affirmative was priceless; but to his credit he recovered quickly and simply said: "I'll set up another set of shelves for you and move some of that extra stuff out of your area in the basement."
That area of the basement is my project this weekend. With the new district I'm split between two schools, teaching two classes at one and then driving to the second to repeat the classes so I won't be storing as much at school. Thus the need for reorganization and expansion of my corner begins. One point in my favor though: I am high (some would say overly) organized and everything is sorted into clearly labeled bins, boxes and totes (See, Suzette--you shouldn't have teased me about my "addiction to ZipLock bags"--it come sin handy on occasion.). Hopefully I can get it all done and fit into the allotted space--or I might have to give up my tote of things that some people might have recycled but I know I'll use in the classroom some day in some way! Don't understand what I mean by that? Go ask the teacher in your life, he/she has one too...
