The day you stop learning is the day you stop teaching.
I've been teaching since 2000 and love what I do!
Teaching ESL is something I'm passionate about and I love planning new lessons and activities to help my students learn. In the past I've taught all grades from K-adult but especially enjoy teaching beginning ESL students grades 3-8. I have literally traveled around the globe teaching and learning. Having been to 17 different countries on 5 continents (South America, I'm coming your way eventually!), I have had the great privilege of learning from many different people and cultures. It is a wealth of experience that I love to share with my students, and having lived in other countries helps me identify with their struggles in coming to the USA for the first time. My teaching style: When language is the problem you have to find other ways to communicate. My students are all very hands-on and I am too; we get bored easily and so things are always moving in my class. Other information: This year I was honored to be invited to join a team from Eastern Michigan University writing the K-12 curriculum for a school in China. I'm very excited about this opportunity and am greatly enjoying the challenge. One of the things that I like the most is the fact that I get to challenge myself and contribute to a great cause but at the same time I am learning a lot from the more experienced team members. |
